Post Processing

Post Processing

Overview

I believe wholeheartedly that we should be doing all we can to capture the best picture in camera.  We should work to expose, focus and compose our images to be the best they can possibly be.  That being said, there is a wonderful world called post processing where we can take great pictures and turn them into something amazing.

In today’s world, there are a ton of options to enhance our photos.  They range in price from free to thousands of dollars, and sifting through those options can be time consuming and confusing.  As a follow up to our Camera Basics and Beyond Basics course, I am putting together a brand new course in Post Processing.

In this course, I will be focusing on two programs, Adobe’s Lightroom and Photoshop.  Having access to Lightroom, Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements will allow you to get the most out of this course, though the concepts we cover will carry over into many editing programs out there.

Class Description

In this course we will cover all of the basics to get you started in post processing.
The following topics will be covered:

  • Basic retouching & enhancement of RAW images (Lightroom & Adobe RAW)
  • Navigating the workspace (an overview of toolbars, sliderbars, tools and their uses LR & Adobe RAW)
  • Working with documents & photos (Photoshop)
  • Image modes and color selection (Photoshop)
  • Selections & masks (Photoshop)
  • Layers (Photoshop)

If this sounds like a foreign language, not to worry.  As always, I do my best to present the material in a fun and easy to understand way.  I believe the combination of taking a great photograph in camera and the knowledge and use of some post processing techniques will propel the results of your photographs!  I hope to see you in class!
